a moment of magic
Have you ever had those moments when you know that you have tapped into a special place - ‘a gift’ in time. a moment of being in the flow and rhythm of everything that surrounds you?
Have you had that feeling that you are a part of the natural world around you, not an observer, but an integral part of the whole.
“It was the most beautiful melody I have ever heard a magpie sing”
This morning I was given this gift as I sat outside with my morning cuppa - one of my daily rituals. Suddenly everything around me became still and quiet, there was an audible shift in the air. There were no cars driving past, no neighbours noises, nothing but complete stillness and silence.
Then a Magpie in the gum tree near me sung out this beautiful melody. It was 3 quick notes with 1 higher pitched longer note at the end. It was the most beautiful melody I have ever heard a Magpie sing and I have never heard this song before. Then, there was silence once again before the Magpie started its song once more, this went on periodically for 10 minutes.
I felt that I was caught in a moment of magic, a moment of complete joy and bliss with my surroundings and the sounds that I was hearing. There were also small finches and little robins singing in the background, then the wind shifted and joined into the song.
But it was more than the song, it was a ‘feeling’. And this was my morning’s gift.
This morning that 10 minutes touched me, awakened me and fed my soul. I was a witness something so complete and beautiful. Have you ever had this experience? Have you ever felt like you have stepped into another place and time, yet not left where you are?
it has fed my soul for the rest of the day and left me with a feeling that i am on track, in the flow and also deeply connected to my surroundings and the natural world around me.
I am extremely grateful and feeling blessed with this beautiful morning gift.
Do you have a special place that you sit in the morning and have a cuppa?
perhaps you could leave your phone inside
make it your special morning ritual
let your family know that you are not to be disturbed for 15 minutes
walk barefoot on the dewy morning grass
observe the birds and their sounds
